A Pink Affair

On Thursday, October 24th the Thomasville Center for the Arts once again hosted the annual Pink Affair, a fashion show featuring cancer survivors as models.

All of the proceeds from this year’s Pink Affair benefit the scalp cooling treatment therapy program at the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center. New to our region, scalp cooling systems help reduce the devastating side effects of hair loss due to chemotherapy treatments. Hair loss can negatively affect a patient's self-image, causing emotional distress and depression; fear and social isolation; and may also contribute to a negative treatment outcome.

Research has shown that by cooling the hair follicles before, during and after chemotherapy treatments, helps prevent the chemo from breaking down the hair follicles which normally causes temporary hair loss. For over 40 years (mainly in Europe) patients have been using scalp “cold cap therapy” to help prevent hair loss during treatment. Archbold is proud to announce that we have partnered with Paxman USA to offer this treatment option for our chemo patients.

Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities are available for the Pink Affair. For more information on sponsorships, contact the Archbold Foundation at (229) 228-2924.
